Bluelime has been Named a Vendor of Record for Ontario TBIITS

November 7, 2011
As of November 1st Bluelime has been named a Vendor of Record with the Government of Ontario for Task-based I&IT Services (under VOR OSS-00175018). This means that for the next three years Bluelime will be actively supporting all of Ontario’s Ministries with Technical Contractors for their projects.
The Ontario provincial government is one of Canada’s largest employers of IT Contract staff, and one of Ontario’s top 100 places to work. We’re excited that through this agreement Bluelime will be able to offer our partner consultants more opportunities to work on the largest, most complex, and most financially stable projects available. This is a great compliment to our existing public sector business both in Ontario and across Canada, and through hard work we expect the public sector to remain a key growth area moving forward.

We are excited to welcome our first intern, Viktor Gnjatic, to our expanding team here at Bluelime. Viktor comes to us as a current student at the University of Toronto, in his final year completing an Honours Degree in HR/IR and Psychology with a minor in the French language. With an education in the Human Resources field, Viktor brings extensive knowledge and theory of the working world and how it has evolved into the present circumstances and the ones we will likely be faced with in the future. For any business-minded organization, it is crucial for employees to have a theoretical framework in order to be able to supplement with training and skills more readily. In addition to Viktor’s academic background, he has several years of experience working in the retail industry, honing his interpersonal and communication skills. As part of the internship program here at Bluelime, we welcome Viktor to the team!

Bluelime’s decision to engage in an internship program has come out of a desire to seek out raw and new talent. Through allowing local students the opportunity they have been looking for but might not have had yet, we take it upon ourselves to educate and train eager and motivated individuals first-hand in a real working environment. Not only do internships like this provide valuable experience, but they give students and recent graduates from local universities a chance to apply their textbook knowledge and to really get their feet wet in terms of figuring out what direction they want their careers to go in. Not to mention the advantages of networking and meeting people in the field, gaining confidence through working with new colleagues and obtaining an edge in the job market by beefing up a resume. It’s definitely an altruistic approach that many other companies aren’t doing right, since the majority of internships are exploitative and interns are manipulated into doing work that a paid employee would be doing, minus the pay. A real intern should be someone who is there to learn about the ins and outs of the industry, the company and its initiatives, all while being exposed to the tasks that would be required upon securing a permanent position. It’s our way of contributing to the community and helping better prepare the workforce of the future. Future interns stay tuned, Bluelime will be looking to add a select few to our team as part of the internship program!
