Overview:
Our client is an Edmonton based publicly funded organization charged with the management of investment assets in the tens of billions of dollars. Currently they are executing a number of system related projects requiring the services of an experienced Business Analyst on a contract basis for an estimated 2 year engagement.

Project:
The client is executing a project to develop its investment data management function. The information technology components of this project include the following initiatives:
• Implementation of PACE’s latest version along with the Security Reference and Pricing/FX modules;
• Redesign of the current look-through processing within PACE;
• Retrofit/rebuild of current reports, data delivery processes, the database, and interfaces to accommodate the implementation of SCD (SimCorp Dimension);
• Retrofit/rebuild of market data feeds; and
• Implementation of a scheduling tool to manage processes.

When completed, the Project will contribute to a broader process of integrating people, process and technology in effective ways in order to transform the organization to a future state model which meets global standards for cost effectiveness, data integrity, strength of internal controls, and service levels.

Technical Overview:
PACE will be the focus of the Project as it will be the key:
• conduit for the receipt of market or reference data for use by other applications;
• data base for storage of investment data; and
• source of investment information for use by end users.
Accordingly, many of the initiatives related to the Project are concerned with the effectiveness of PACE and its related processes.

There are, however, a number of inter-dependences that need to be considered and will result in sub-projects as part of the implementation of the Project:
• The client is implementing an Enterprise Service Business which will determine the protocols for movement of data amongst applications; the Resources should be familiar with business analysis related to interfaces;
• The client is engaged in a data governance review of which the outcome may require changes in the processes for investment data management;
• SCD has unique needs for data and will provide data in unique formats which will have an impact on the configuration of PACE;
• the data management support groups within the operations and systems areas will need to evolve to address the changing application environment and the changing needs of end users.
